Agree with above re: bent ali frames. Dont risk it and instead get yourself a UK stocked On-One carbon 456 frame for the ludicrous price of just £299?!

I have an on-one and if their carbon is a nice as their steel then that is definitely a bargain.
The steel frame's worth a try IMO.

Yeah carbon has a finite life but I'm still battering my 7 year old Scott ransom, and that's a full on free ride bike with a full carbon frame!

I guess it's like anything. It's good till it goes!

The idea if a steel frame does appeal to the purist in me though!

That's a top tip never heard of them before.

Might try them.

On-One are a great little outfit based in the UK. Think they're ex-Orange guys but could be wrong.

Also heard a rumour that they're selling off these carbon frames so cheaply because when they ordered from the Far East there was a clerical error and they were left with 1000 instead of 100.

Rumours though. Friend has this frame and its fantastic. Very strong indeed.

its been a while since I've owned a nice bike. I used to custom build them myself but got fed up of them being stolen :x

Really tempted to blow money I dont have on that carbon frame though!

I'm very tempted to get one of these and some forks they have. Two two combined are only 3kg.

Any comments on the forks?

Bloody annoyed that the alternator on the wife's car went today though so that's £160 as well. :headbang:

Those forks look a bargain too and rate pretty highly. Could also look at Fox float vanilla's but doubt you'll find a better deal than those.

Finally got my new frame on Friday, a Medium Cotic BFe. Spent a lot more money than I intended (Don't tell Mrs Hutch). Spent Sunday morning pulling parts of the old bike and building it up from scratch.

So New Frame, Forks, Stem/Bars, Seat Post, Front Mech, Cables, Tubes/Tyres, Crank/Bottom Bracket

Few bits to sort like frame protectors to stop cable rub but it's works and got christened yesterday in 12" of water :D

But as Trigger would say, it's the same Bike I bought 3 years ago :D

it's not disimilar to the soul. been through no end of mtbs and the soul's my favourite so far, kona explosif close 2nd (similar sort of thing) and a proflex 955 i had back in 1995 also held a soft spot for - although i suspect that is rose tinted.

i did the same, swapped out all the bits off a trek 8500 and made a few surruptious upgrades along the way...

V nice...what's the tubing? I have a cotic soul, absolutely love it.

Cotic Fm Heat Treat Cromoly throughout with Reynolds 853 DZB down tube. Geometry same as Soul so think the only difference is the tubing (Heavier I guess)

I couldn't justify the extra £170 though for the Soul. TBH Ive never even heard of Cotic, a mate at work recommended them as did inkey$ so went on their recommendation.

Rough weight it's lighter than my old bike by about 1kg (probably the forks) as they were Dart2 before. Hope to give it a good ride in a couple of weeks.

Been told I need to get rid of my tool pocket and bung it all in a camelbak as my setup isn't cool.
