Is my Motor Dead?

How do I know if the roof motor has died? Was working last night...

When I press the roof down button, I see the red light next to the button..but nothing happens?

Could it be a fuse?

Anyone?

Found this on another forum..

What does the switch look like?

If you press the button and nothing happens except the light blinks, then it is most likely the 'rear compartment floor' switch. The 'rear compartment floor', located in the trunk must be in the down posistion. Sometimes the micro switch on the rear firewall fails or its 'switch arm' gets bent.

To test this, you can remove the 'rear compartment floor', then remove the switch. Then pressing the switch, have someone attempt to open your top. If the top opens, your golden. Cheap, easy fix.
A new switch is $35.00 from the dealer.

look in the boot, its the tray thing you can lift up with the knob on either side to create more room in the boot. usually when this tray is up the red light is a orange light. just make sure its down. if it is and the light is still on or not changed to orange then it might be the switch or the motor.

do you hear anything when you press the button?

You did not move the parcel shelf I trust? As it will not lower if the shelf is in the up position.

Also check the red motor disengagement handle at the top of the boot - if it's not pushed all the way home the roof won't open without manual assistance. A good pointer to this is if the locks disengage but the roof doesn't move

The loop of the handle should be parallel with the top of the boot I.e. flat as you look at it, then a tab slides into the notch at the end of the tube and the tapered section slides all the way in

Thanks guys..found the 2 switches..seems she I popped a box in the boot..I must have accidently moved it..
