Is my car SI SE or SPORT?

Sometimes insurance companies can be so intransigent.

When I bought my car two months ago, I put the details into a comparison website and the best quote was with Admiral. I rang them up just to confirm the price and they were adamant that the Coupe had only a 2 litre and there was no such thing as a 3 litre version!

Needless to say I went to another insurer.

i've just transferred to Admiral :?

 I'm with Admiral! In their defence everyone is saying similar things. Privilege told me that the sport is the basic model and I have an se which is the better "sport edition"!

Confirm with them what engine size they think you have....

Weird as they had no problems insuring my coupe - for at least two years.

Called BMW and their records show it as a sport. Can any other sport coupe owners confirm whether theirs has sport on the v5?

The V5 will only have what the dealer put down in the first place.

I would not worry. If I contact some insurance companies and put my reg number in it still comes back with a car that has not been on hat plate since 2005.

Cheers srhutch. I just 'borrowed' a few plates from late sport coupes on auto trader and they came back si se on confused.com and simply si coupe on other searches, so looks like I'm not the only one.

I've just purchased an SE that is definitely a sport. Bmw site shows its a sport. I've emailed cust serv to see what they can do.

Welcome Brummie. Do you mind sharing how old it is? I'm wondering if the age has any bearing on how they were registered. Did you have any issues with insurance?

09 plate. No issues with insurance, it's only the spec that's questionable. I want mine to be right tho, I'll let you know what bmw say, if they reply.
