Is my car idling properly?

When my car is totally up to temperature and with minimal ancillaries running, the idle seems to hunt approx 3-4mm in actual terms.

I probably wouldn't have paid it any attention except my works van has a perfectly steady idle with zero movement. Id have thought a 6 cylinder BMW petrol should be at least as smooth as a 4 cylinder turbo diesel?!

Heres a video I took this evening:

Am I being paranoid or should it be smoother?

Many thanks

Agree with the above , normally an Air or fuel meter fault in my experience just genrally. Take you MAF off spray with some electrical contact cleaner pop back in see if it make an difference???? take less than 5 mins to do

Thanks for the replies.

I have tried cleaning the MAF with electrical contact cleaner but no change in the idle. Which should I try next? ICV, PCV, maybe an ignition coil?

I have just spent all morning cleaning the ICV and the MAF, my PCV was done exactly 2 years ago.

I'm fairly sure there is a problem, when i put a glass of water on the engine it's quite choppy - moreso than i'd expect for a BMW 6er.

Would a misfire always throw a fault code? No codes have come up yet.

The only other symptom I have is a slight whistle immediately after pressing the accelerator before the revs start to rise. I can't recall if this did this before or has been caused by me not fitting the pipes back on properly when i put the ICV back in.
