Is my alarm working?

I was thinking this morning I have never heard my alarm go off. So I decided to test it.
I wound down the windows exited the vehicle and locked it
I had the flashing red light on the rear view mirror
I then waved my hands about through the window and also tried to unlock the car from the inside with my hand but had no siren or flashing lights...

What if you lock the car with the remote then open it with the key and get in?

I discovered that mine was working last week when I started jacking up the car to remove a wheel...first time I've heard it ! :)

From memory, the sensors in the car are at floor level (so if you lock the car with the roof down, all sorts of stuff doesn't set it off).

Sit in the car and use your fob to lock it -- Remember that it doesn't arm immediately, then give your arms a wave! My guess is you didn't wait until the system armed.

Put a dog in the car then lock it. That works.

By the way... you can do a press and hold on the lock button to disable the sensors inside (for those instances when you have a canine friend traveling with you).

You'll know it's armed when the red light that normally flashes goes solid briefly, and then flashes.

Not an e89, but mine takes about 30 secs to arm the motion sensors.
