Is Morrisons Nuts suspending this man for showing respect ?

I think its a misguided gesture - no heroes were helped by his act of defiance and morrisons fish will still be best and its still the nearest supermarket

it is in fact the very definition of pointless

Got to love the media, next week's headline.

IRRESPONSIBLE SUPERMARKET PUTS FASHION BEFORE SAFETY OF CUSTOMERS AS OLD LADY CHOKES ON A POPPY PIN THAT FALL INTO HER PASTY.

ive worked for morrisons, if you are dealing with any fresh food or produce the dress code is enforced, includes no jewelry whatsoever. my sister says they have just started reinforcing the codes tightly again last month after a message from head office.

I see where people are coming from, but i would rather not find a pin in my salad.
till workers are normally allowed to wear them though

I work with food manufacturing.. And the dress code is there for a reason... Even at the checkout! I think they are making a big deal out of nothing.

If it was a pin with a picture of his wife/ kids would they make such a big deal? Mountain out of a molehill.

The office staff (who are not even in the factory) at my place have to drink water from plastic cups!

We're not allowed food/drink at the desks, but it does mean you get to chat to the hotties around the kitchen area :P

There is an NHS-wide policy of "bare below the elbow" - essentially no watches or bracelets and sleeves rolled above the elbow; a plain wedding ring is the only jewellery allowed. The first time a pretty nurse asked me to take off my suit jacket and roll up my sleeves as I entered a ward I agreed, but only if she would agree to putting her hands on top of her head. She was clearly confused but went along with it.....until I then told her she should be bare below her elbows :P I think grocery shopping would be much more fun if Morrisons had the same policy :D

As the saying goes: Theres only 2 things in life that are certain; death and a nurse  (allegedly :) no offence meant)

Just appeared on the BBC Website:
Morrisons reinstates worker suspended for wearing poppy pin badge to support Help For Heroes - and says it got policy wrong

Nice to see them admitting that they were wrong...

I think both sides were to blame.

Any Company must have standards that need to be enforced though should always have something in place to handle exceptions.

Rather than the employee just turning up & 'expecting' his employers to accept his view, he should have gone to mgmt to ask for approval. Might be a little @nul to some, though as Adamski rightly pointed out, you'll otherwise get all the muppets taking advantage where possible.

Morrisons now have an issue where the rule boundaries lie

I think Morrisons have defined their boundaries by saying that, in non-food prep areas, they will allow 'a single bracelet issued by a registered charity' (or words to that effect)
