iS models

Have BMW produced iS models in the past? If so on what cars? i seem to recall there was a X5 iS at some point and are they a link between a full fat M model and the rest of the range?

Hi,

The is range originally sat between the regular models and the flagship M range. I beleive the is range has now been renamed to the M Performance range which sits in the same spot.

335is is another car that comes to mind

Thinking about it..how can it sit between regular models and the M range if no M range was produced?

I believe the IS badge is given to cars that are top of the range, but do not get the full M treatment. Hence the Z4 but no M. I believe they also do/did an 7 series IS and ‘sunnydays’ maybe right about the X5 is - on a previous model before they even thought of introducing a X5M
