Is it worth changing springs at the same time as shocks?

Going to be changing the shocks shortly and just wondered if it is worth changing the springs at the same time?
The springs aren't broken. Car is on 82000 miles and on original suspension.
If you were replacing the shocks are there any other parts you would change at the same time (based on all original parts)?

On the rear it seems to be almost as case of ‘if not when’ they will snap. Personally, if I was doing the rear I’d be changing the springs to save hassle when the inevitable finally happens.

If you search the forum there are a number of people who have used aftermarket alternatives, I think Suplex? Is a brand that is used to retain normal ride height. I would personally recommend Eibach, but they will give you a 15mm ish drop over standard MSport springs.... you’ll be having to break out the spring compressors anyway for the fronts

Oh, and I’d definitely be replacing the top mounts, with Lemforder. People have suffered knocking at the rear with Meyle.

Agree with True-Blue replace the springs as well as the shocks, no point in having to do it all again when one snaps.

Not necessarily, load the AUTODOC app onto a smartphone or tablet, springs etc are considerably cheaper when they reduce them (different discount most days) - just be prepared for a wait of around 10 days +/- after ordering for delivery

It’s also a great place for Bilstein B4’s

I am going to be doing my suspension refresh job soon (still waiting on a few parts) and the "may as well change that" policy got a little out of hand for me!

In total I will be replacing:

• Front + rear shocks (Bilstein B4s)

• Front + rear springs (Suplex M-Sport OEM)

• Front + rear top mounts (front Meyle, rear Lemforder)

• Front + rear reinforcement plates

• Front + rear spring pads

• Front lower control arms, incl. lollipop bushes (Meyle HD)

• Front drop links (Meyle HD)

• Front tie rod (Meyle)

• Rear trailing arm bush (Powerflex)

I would suggest doing the springs and maybe top mounts, but try not to do what I did!!
