Gookah,
With the shelf out (m/switch off), the windows still worked, but the roof would not go down. However, the roof can still be closed with the shelf out.

My windows don't move if I try and put the roof down with the shelf out of position, I just get an orange light. No window, latch or roof movement at all.
I have not tried it the other way with the roof down as it would be more difficult to lift the shelf with the roof resting on it, and I don't want to cause any damage.
