is it sad

If you want a model of your car then get one.

Just dont take it to work and push it round your desk making vroom and tyre squeal noises.

And please please don't stick it on your dashboard.... I Have seen this and that takes sad to the next level.

Err - other way round for me - my wife gave me a model of a certain BMW motorbike in the hope that we wouldn't have to buy the real thing

The local model shop was closing down so all models were half price..couldn't resist a bargain and ended up with about 10 or so. Also a couple of years ago I bought my dad a model of a Bentley blower for his birthday. It was mega expensive but he loves it. Yes the Missus calls me a sad git but who cares!!

Not sad at all, its about appreciating something you're passionate about and remembering what you've had. I've got three models of the three cars I've enjoyed owning the most - 205 GTI, 156 Selespeed and the Z4.

Nope, not at all. I used to have a Celica and I built a Mini-ITXC PC into a 1:10 scale remote control car bodyshell of it. It looked great. No pics unfortunately.

Did you get the bike.

Whoops only just seen this - wonder if 'goon' will get the answer?

No didn't get the bike - she was right - the Triumph Daytona 1200 4 cylinder we ended up with was streets ahead of the BMW parallel twin considered - still have the model though - it was a nice touch.

I have a model of a black e89

That's fine Andy.

My wife bought me a 1: 18 scale model from BMW back in 2003, a Z4 roaster, little did I know that for years later I would own one. It was never part of the plan, not that I had a plan.

I have the models though. The one above a scalextric and a kit one which is still inbuilt and probably will remain so.

I also keep the brochures and even obtained ///M ones before I get one.

If I could find an exact replica of mine I'd buy it without question... I'd love one that went down to the detail level of having the same stubby, reg plate etc.!
