Is it only me...

But why do I continually come up against the 'traffic light challenge' by middle aged men in what I can only describe as joe average cars, I mean things like your 1.6 focus Ghia, 2.0 vectors with the mandatory cracked bumper or my personal favourite Citroen Picasso diesel.

Now young lads in their fiesta's with the Christmas cracker lights I can understand; they genuinely believe that the dustbin sized exhaust really will give them the necessary ummph to outgun the big ///M badge that turns them on so. But middle aged men???

I'll admit to seeing red the other week. As the chav chariot pulled alongside after tailgating, dropping back, then storming up my chuff trying to make me boot it (on a dual carriageway) I picked up the pace and stayed alongside.

We were approaching a roundabout "making progress" and then I braked and proved the zed has better brakes than the average chav chariot. He disappeared in a cloud of rubber smoke and narrowly avoided going straight over the roundabout.

Childish, dumb, and very satisfying at the time.

Now to go and chastise myself like Dobbie the house elf.

I just rev it a little then fast idle across the intersection while the other guy looks like a right idiot, and sometimes gets a ticket if the police are in the correct place :D ..

Normaly I let em go I'm in mt 50's after all, but I have been known to bite.

White Evo being a d#ck behind me, as I'm trying to pull out of his way he flys up the inside lane at full chat, waste gates churping. This is in a 30, in rush hour. Once he's past ,I carry on minding my own, in the inside lane.

1/2 mile down the road I turn toward the ring road. There stuck at the lights, is the Evo. It's a two lane slip down on to the by pass. by the end of the slip he was toast. So I just eased it back and carried on home, lesson taught. :driving:

(Ye I know it's bad but :D )

Definitely an M thing I've very rarely ever had this and as soon as I got my M it's constant, at lights, on the motorway, literally every time I'm out in it.

Hmmmm,
Other side of the coin. As an almost oldie with a Victor Meldrew attitude  I get Very pissed off by youngsters (they are all bloody young to me) who insist on tailgating me at 60/70+mph. They are inevitably in Fiesta or Citroen buzz boxes and take crazy risks. Better to let them go, they are just accidents waiting to happen! When I was driving my C36 AMG Mercedes or Saab Turbo no problems...but the Z4 seems to bring out the worst in other drivers. very sad... :x

I did exactly that a few years back as I had seen a police car parked in a church parking lot waiting for red light runners or speeders. He rev his engine and I rev my engine and the light turned green and he laid down rubber in his Cobra Mustang and went tearing by the waiting cops at likely nearly twice the 35 MPH speed limit. The cop's lights came on and I found out a few days later he was charged with reckless driving...

I'll play the devil's advocate. Since when does an M badge mean anything any more? All one has to do is option bigger wheels and BMW will throw up an M badge on the boot lid. While a true M is something to be reckoned with. BMW plays fast and loose with M badges these days.

To the OP. You really need to stay in Germany for a while, You will soon see that for the most part ALL Germans view a newly green light as the start of another German F1. Smart cars, Prius', Oma, Opa it doesn't matter.
