Is it easy to make seats heated?

Hi guys,

If I remember right, I think I read a thread on here which stated that it is relatively easy to turn non heated seats in the Z4 to being heated?

Do you only have to buy the switch? Are all the seats capable of it, or are they different seats altogether?

I am looking at a car that doesn't have heated seats, which I saw as a bit of a deal breaker, but perhaps not if it can be done easily.

Thanks!

It's not quite that simple no, you need to buy heated seats and then the control panel too.

Apparently, or so I've been told, only older zed's have all the wiring in place for the seats, so in my 2003, I could literally plug the seats into the multiplug on the car loom, and then change the control panel over and bob's your uncle.

If you have an 2003 SE.. How likely is it that the heating elements are already in the seats?

I can't believe heated seats weren't standard on an SE!

As I have an 2003 SE.. this is looking like something I could.. Fed up of having a cold bum!

i would say if you dont have the heater panel then the seats wont have the heater elements - worth noting they are a couple of hundred £ per seat if you buy the elements separately

Very - Unless you used a professional upholsterer to remove then relay the leather once the pads had been fitted

heated seats are the dogs danglies tho... nothing like that warm creeping feeling as they heat up..... just like youve wet yourself really

I knew there was a simple enough theory behind it, but I don't think I would want to have to buy heated seats the minute I've bought the car. Think I'll just hold off for one with heated seats already fitted. Couldn't do without them after having them in the TT.

Do they use the same alternator with heated seats ?
Yes they do...
I believe it is 155 amp on all 6's and 147 amps on the ///M
I'm don't know about the 4 pots...
