Moving on from Terryvisions awful post about some tosser hitting his car, I have come down yesterday morning and some similar low life has snapped my aerial off just above the base !!!!.

No panel damage but its just a pain in the arse having to go to dealers etc for a new one.

I presume they are easy to fit etc :headbang:

Ouch! Should be easy enough to replace but you say snapped so I assume the thread is still in there? If so you'll need to get that out first before you can fit a new one.

That'll be the difficult part and depending on how far in it is, you might be better buying a new base too

Yes a new base it will be as there is no way I am trying to drill out the screw, no doubt I will have to remove trim etc to get at it.

Off tomorrow for my birthday so I guess thats my gift to myself lol

Last week some tossed in a white vehicle swipe my front bumper, think it only left paint behind but it's like target a week !!!!! :x

Would have thought it will be easier to get the screw out than a new base. Probably buzz it out in seconds with a reverse drill bit. Sorry to hear of your troubles though, it is very annoying when this happens.

I still have a full size whip spare if you need it.

Thanks buddy, just had a dig in the garage and found the whippy one i had for the previous zed so ok for now.

Rang dealers and £12 for a base so I will replace it once I figure out how it fits

Did someone definately damage it or did it just break?
The reason I ask is we had a genuine stubby on ours and inside a year the aerial part broke away from the threaded part, seemed like araldite type glue that went brittle and just broke up.

Yes it's been snapped the antenna bit is on the floor, got my suspicions but don't think it was deliberate thankfully.

You have jogged my memory and I recall buying a Peugeot one back in 08 which seemed better quality than the broken BMW one
