hi Guys

Ive had a look at other posts to see if i can get any help with this but no one seems to have the same issues. Cars been going great done 50 miles last night with no issues, parked up over night to be suprised with the below on start up, but also had the tyre light on as well, so checked all the pressures of my tyres and by the time i got back in the car the tyre light was out with only the below still on. drove 5 ft and they all cleared. so i drove a few miles then pulled over and killed the engine and restarted with no lights..... great i thought it fixed itself. so jumped out at lunch time there and as soon as i turned the key all three lights back on. started the engine drove anothe 5 ft then they all cleared again?

any ideas what could be going on here

Complete speculation (ive only been an owner for 2 weeks), but could it have something to do with pad wear indication?
Would that cause the traction control light to pop on though??????
 
Almost certainly one of the two DSC pressure sensors which screw into the brake master cylinder, best bet is to get an indy to read the codes first. If its one of the sensors (as it was on my car) not that expensive and only took 20mins
 
quick update to see if this helps narrow the issue down. started the car after work and all the lights on the pic came on as well as the flat tyre light in yellow. drove a few miles will all the lights on( noticed the hill assist stopped working) pulled over killed the engine again and pressed the tyre pressure button which cleared that light. started driving again and within 5 ft all lights gone

Mine did this after a rolling road day. A quite wheel spin and it was fixed mind.

Isn't this all to do with the ABS sensor, it's picked up (or broken and falsely) identifying variations in speed.

Checked all your tyre pressures?

Thanks Billy, yeh i checked all the tyre pressures and there ok. The cars booked into a little indy on friday to get the codes off it. ill keep you posted on how i get on. Again thanks for all your help
 
Read my post on known causes here..... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=52105 .... Given your symptoms described I would clean your wheel sensors as part of any diagnostics work up.... And it's something you can do if you can jack up a car and dismount/mount a tire after having a flat.

Getting the diagnostic software to read faults is the only way to track your problem down. Just because the fault says its a brake pressure sensor issue doesn't mean that's the actual cause. It could be dirty connection or dirty wheel sensors. The software program INPA will actually give you live data on those type of things. You can see whether or not the car is "seeing" those sensors and the information is what should be showing....like equal/near equal brake pressure as you press on the brake pedal. You can also get dynamic information while driving the car....just have a passenger on the laptop doing the sensor diagnostics.... Or have access to a straight and car free road....along with your laptop perched on a pillow ( that was me).

The fault(s) clears because the tire pressure sensor system is part of the DCS system. Resetting it takes out the wheel sensor rotational differences temporarily...but only temporarily.
 
Could be anything from a dirty sensor to a faulty ABS/ESP pump (a £1400 part). Having the code read should clarify as others have suggested
 
I'd echo this as well. I'd get a brake light warning on the dash in the mx-5 and it was down to a n/s front abs sensor being dead. It disables the whole of the system which is why hill assist stops working too. Occasionally if I stalled the car, the light would go out for 5 mins then just come back on.

We successfully tested this by plugging in a new hub and sensor is in each corner and until we found which one it was. Thats easy in an mx5 but probably not so in a Zed, so fault codes are the way to go.

If it is a sensor it should be a cheap fix. I had to change the whole hub on the mx5 because you cant change a sensor individually as they break too easily. Hopefully you wont need to do this as I imagine a hub for Zed is rather alot more expensive than for an mx5!

Again guys, thanks for all the help. well got the call from the Garage on Friday and Mjgerrard you are correct it was a dead ABS sensor. The garage said it will need to order the part in and advise the cost at the begining of this week. Any one replaced there ABS sensor before and at what cost?
