Drop the roof whilst dirty?(the roof not me :) )-i know the roof will not be spotless all the time but does creasing the roof up while it has dirt/grit on/in the fibres damage the fibres in the long run?-thanks

I dont worry about it - too much fun to have the roof down. General dirt on the roof shouldnt cause a problem!

If you're at all worried about it, its always a good idea to give the thing a quick, periodic swish over with a soft handbrush, or even hoover it if you have time....never hurts.

So far, I've been scared to lower the hood when its covered in frost - been getting 5 mins up the road first and lowering once the heater has been on max for a few mins. Is this stupid too?

My logic is that the hood absorbs water, so it may be that there's some ice within the fibres, which even more so than any frost on top, I'm thinking could cause damage.

BMW say don't operate the hood at -10c or below, but no mention on frost. The MX-5 soft top shouldn't be used when it's frosty, so I don't take the risk with the Z4 one.
