Done a bit of searching and cant seen to find the post I saw earlier.

But I saw a pic of someones interior and in the centre glove box, where the sat nav dvd player is, I noticed a phone dock.

Now i have my Dvd player for the sat nav, a 6 cd changer and what looks like a phone docking station.

Can I slot an iphone into this????

I dont currently have an iphone as i manged to loose it a few months ago and not bothered to replace it.

Question is can i stick an iphone in it?

Will it allow me to use it as a phone in the car (hands free) does it need to be bluetooth sinked?

And finally will I be able to play my music through it.

Sorry guys complete novice with this>

Appreciate help.

Dont know if this fits yours

Do you have bluetooth prep?

If so you can change the dock to accpet an iphone to charge it, you will need a new eject box and a new cradle like Animal linked to.

The phone is charged in the dock, all comms go through the Bluetooth interface still, it is not used for audio playback or anything - just for voice. You would need an intravee or equivalent for that

How do i find out if I have Bluetooth prep?

I take it the iphone wont just fit into the one I have then???

Put your bluetooth on and do a search when your in your car.
The adaptors are model dependent you may have a nokia/samsung/blackberry type it depends on what the previous owner fitted.
Do you have the speak logo on your wheel?

£62.99 seems expensive to me

It is when you have to add the eject box on top of that at another £150, as the E85/86's all came with a skinnier eject box.

Cradles retail is £65 I think

the newly released iPhone4 cradle is more like £70 to £80 depending on Dealer and will not fit the updated iPhone 3G/GS eject box it needs the two"wings" at plug end to be Dremeled off
to allow it to drop down into the eject box
No idea why it does not fit out of the box as no sign of another eject box

ps I have done it yet fitted 120d updated eject box no problems

Can i be a tube and ask what a intravee is? I have the bluetooth and want to listen to music so how do i do it. Oh i dont have nav.

Intravee is an interface to allow you full control of your iPod via the HeadUnit and Nav screen, you can get full search and browse facility of the ipod. It uses the changer cabling so it's easy to fit and good integration.

See hear for more details: http://www.intravention.co.uk/index.php

Without a Nav screen though it's severely limited, as it's true functionality is released with a proper screen rather than a few lines of text.

To listen to music from your iPod you need an interface, and as you don't have a screen, something like the Dice is more suited as without being able to have the big screen you can't use a lot of the Intravee's features.

You can't use bluetooth as the BT interface does not support streaming.

I've heard Parrot do a very good solution for non Nav screen stereos

cool mate thanks ill have a look. Seams silly that you cant stream the music by BT.

Normally avoided as it destroys batteries quickly, and the quality is sub par compared to a wire. Besides why sell a customer one device that does both, when you can sell a Bluetooth module and an iPhone adaptor? This is BMW after all!
