Is it always wrong to put your Zed through a Car Wash.

What you do want is to have a strong build up of sealant and wax on the paint and wheels.

This will enable you to simply pressure wash the car clean allowing you to get those hand wash places to just give a car a rinse.
I think you missed the bit where he said he was a lazy so and so

Do what I do and make your kids earn pocket money by washing the family cars.
However when it's Zed wash time I do it myself unless I am incapacitated in someway then it's garden chair, cup of coffee and strict supervision. ....

What about those car washes that claim to be made from the feathers of the an angel or some other crap?

Not that i have used them but those fancy car washes charge uowards of £30 a wash. And I always see fancy motors coming out of them... Last week was a mclaren p1.

I'm sure op can find someone who would be willing to do it on his behalf.

You're just inflicting swirls into your pride an joy. Sponges, local Polish wash, chamois/chammies/leathers are nearly as bad.

Depends how fussed you are...

He's not fussed, just wants to know if a car wash is acceptable (which has had a majority of 'no' votes). Don't go hijacking this thread with pictures of your God-like ability to turn what looks like the side of an old pot into proof that a black hole can be incorporated into a vehicle's paintwork :poke:

every time I've took a car to one of those hand car washes they've always scratched or marked the paintwork...absolutely shocking.

they obviously don't care about your car and would use Brillo pads if it were quicker

Ha, whoops Marlon!

I think I've actually got a decent photo of an Aston I rectified years ago with my trusty Porter Cable...

edit; nope gone from Photobucket :(

It may not be the preference of most on here but it will not result in catastrophe if you choose to do it now and again. I'm sure it is even mentioned in the owners manual. Mike Brewer suggests you do it on a test drive when considering buying a soft top to check for leaks!

I've never put my Zed through one as I would be worried about marking the roof fabric but now the hardtop is on I would possibly consider it if the car was totally minging and I had no time or the weather was too s**t to do it myself. I did once use the Polish trolley brigade at Sainsburys though (I was going to a funeral the next day and the car was looking a bit embarrassingly hacky). I think it cost a tenner for wash/wax, Polish polish and wheel clean. They even put some of that black stuff on the tyres. Actually didn't look too bad at all and no scratches or damage.

Generally always do it myself though, wash and chamois dry followed by a good polish and wheel clean. I can't just do a wash and dry gotta do the polish every time! I think you reap the benefit over time as it makes it easier to clean if you have built up a good layer of protection by regular polishing.

Out of principle would never let the local Eastern Europeans wash my car. It only encourages more of them over hence very scrap of land is occupied by them with bucket and sponge.
