Is it always wrong to put your Zed through a Car Wash.

Snowfoam - if the car is dusty (it won't clean dirt off - still need a sponge for a proper clean)

Surely 30 minutes to wash and dry is not too much time to find once a week (or two)?
You don't have to go the whole two bucket wash with multple cleaning products and waxes, sealers, polishes, etc... sure they'll make it look great, but the Z4 looks fantastic with even the smallest TLC
The best investment I've made in exterior care is a Turtle Wax synthetic chamois - drying the car after washing it makes it look way better, and is easy and quick to do.

Mechanical car wash ? No way Jose !!!!!!
+1
I forgot to answer the actual question of the thread in my post, but a big NO on mechanical car wash. If it's one with brushes they will scratch the crap out of your paintwork, and if it's one with just water, the pressure could blast water into places you definitely don't want water :o

I'm a frequent user of the local hand car wash all for £6.00. I think that it is (marginally) better than a mechanical car wash. I regularly wash it myself but sometimes for speed and convenience I pay the local Eastern Europeans to do it.

My Coupe is my everyday driver, but if it was a "garage queen" like some on here, I might think differently.

Any wash that doesn't involve you getting your hands wet is just wrong! (So it's no excuse for wearing the Marigolds either!)

I love to wash and polish my Z , these cars are not bread and butter hacks, they are curvaceous sports cars that deserve a bit of attention. That said, I won't even put our Fiesta through a car wash :)

What you do want is to have a strong build up of sealant and wax on the paint and wheels.

This will enable you to simply pressure wash the car clean allowing you to get those hand wash places to just give a car a rinse.

If you want to risk getting the car damaged or just like the "swirl marked" look, go right ahead...!!

Normally: NO there nothing wrong with putting your Z through a CarWash, i wouldn't but thousands of others do.
Ignore people that make out after 1 car wash and your car will be written off, damaged and swirled beyond recognition

BUT on this occasion:
Seeing as today, (1st November) was the hottest November day on record, YES, totally wrong in every way.
