Hi all, just a quick question. My roof stop working last week and after checking all the usual’s things fuse, boot cover etc I figured the hydraulic unit was knacker. So I booked it in with a good independent called bm care near leeds. They have quoted me £1160 + vat now that seems a tad expensive she said it was £800 in parts alone but after looking on here it seem to be way too high to me she said she would get someone to phone me tomorrow. Do people think £1200 is right for this job ???

Parts are less than 300 for the motor, 60 for the casing, and if you want to you can replace the hydrolines too but 800 for part is excessive..

Indi i would say it should be more like 500 all in.

That’s what I was thinking around £600 to £800 job done.I don’t get it, all I’ve heard is good things about them just seems way off on the parts.

You could get a second opinion from these guys not used them myself but maybe worth a try.

Don't touch Cramag, they seemed proper dodgy to me when I went in looking for a Zed.

On the contrary, I used to have my 3-series serviced by them all the time when I worked round the corner, never had a problem with them at all.

I'm guessing you have checked the micro switch in the boot?

Is the roof completely dead at the button?

Main dealer told me that the job would have cost me about £1k Its worth checking.

I didn't get the final bill as I've got a BMW warranty. A waste of money in 2010 but its smoothed the bumps this year!
