Too lazy to take a picture, but I'm sure you'll ge the picture. When the top is in the down postion, its forward edge is about 3/4" to 1" above the deck behind the roll bars. It is my impression that when the car was new, the leading edge of the top was inline with the rear deck. Furthermore, I would think that it should be flush as in its present position it seems to be an air trap and that is poor aerodynamics. I'm still under warranty ans was wondering if I should take it to BMW to have it adjusted. BTW, if it is to be adjusted, does BMW have to take a lot of stuff apart, or would it be an easy job. Hate to have them monkey around a lot int his area as previous experience with a "hard hitting" closing of the top, appears to have allowed for creases in the top.

Too lazy to explain properly.... :D

Edge should be flush. Is the red lever for the soft top in the boot properly engaged. Make sure that you push it in as this is the mechanism that locks the hood into place.

Good luck

Yeah, that's what I thought, the edge should be flush with the body of the car. However, where is that "red lever" you refer to located? I don't see any lever in my trunk.

Sorry for the delay in replying- There is a red ring pull on the l/h/s of the boot near the top.

It is connected to a wire that releases the roof. Its main function is to release the roof from the motor so that you can move the soft top manually.

Good luck.

Mine is also like this even after the dealer fitted a new mechanism, so don't get your hopes up that the dealer will be able to sort it for you as they failed with mine.

Now that he mentions it, I noticed mine seems to be high as well. It feels solid though when I tug on it

Found it. It appears to be in the proper position as I can't push it in any further.

I have a pre face lift car and the hood didn't close flush so the clip neve engaged. The dealer relaced the mechanism for a face lift version and binned the clip that holds the hood down. So now when my hood is down it still doesn't fit flush but the hydraulick mechanism holds it securly in place, I'm not 100% happy but the dealer assures me all is OK.
