Is car worth asking price

I wonder if anyone can advise me on a car i looked at this morning.

Its a 2.5 z4 s.i 57 plate
33k miles
V clean condition.
M sport steering wheel
Piano black dash
Leather etc

Asking price is 8495??

Is this worth the money

It's in 3.0si territory that. Same fuel economy for the 3.0 Si so maybe look at them.

Not in my eyes but colour/trim/pics/history/description always help
If you are asking the question the value now & in the future must be a concern ?
Imo you are paying a premium for the miles so effectively buying them
If it had 50-60k on that would be a £6500 car :?
If you plan to do say 20/30k in next 3 years then sell you will see a steep depreciation against buying a 3.0Si around 60k for similar or even less money that should drop less in same time + miles
That's not to say the 2.5Si isn't worth buying , its just not worth paying more than a 3.0Si unless insurance prevents :wink:

I wouldn't even consider it for that price. Even with the low mileage.

Perspective for you, I bought this 3.0si around 3/4 weeks ago and I paid £6600 for it. The mileage on it when I bought it was 74K. full bmw service history, recent service completed before I bought it, mint condition. At the time I thought it was a bargain, then after looking into the book value online, it turns out I paid pretty much on market rate for it.

Whilst this forum is great for advice.. (prepares for incoming onslaught and outcry...) I must admit I do find that car values here do seem to be inflated somewhat. Some people might not like using parkers price guide but I find it a pretty good guide for windows of pricing. On a 2.5 of that year...

Prices based on an average mileage of 100,000 miles

Of course thats based on 100K... but there is no chance of it adding £2-£3.5K in value based on the mileage alone.

Right about now, I would look at £7K-£7.5K getting a decent 3.0si roadster. The prices online might not agree with me on that, but when was the last time anyone ever paid the asking price for a car?

Don't get me wrong, I am not unhappy about what I paid, but again, on book and automotive industry wide opinion, what I would have thought was a bargain doesnt really stack up.

Parkers valuation of a 3.0si from 2007 not adjusted for mileage is:

Now its not as though Parkers is a gospel and admittedly the glasses guide value them on private sale from £6700 to £8700 (big variation!) with as low as £4600 on a trade in, but with the state of the market and even with the 3.0si being sought after, I still don't think its difficult to find them at the price I bought mine for. If I had to sell mine tomorrow I certainly dont think I would get any more than I paid for it!

I have to admit that on a lot of car forums (i've owned in excess of 15 cars and registered on a forum every time I have bought one) I have noticed there does seem to be a propensity to push the price a little higher than what they are worth/will ACTUALLY sell for. Nothing bad in that, I suppose in some ways its the nature of the internet in some senses.

True - some forums have an over inflated valuation of their own marques, but I haven't seen much evidence of that on this forum - quite the opposite sometimes. I agree though that the current state of the market is driving prices down - some owners don't like to see the value of their cars dropping (myself included). Still reckon you got a bargain :wink:
