Is BMW telling me a Bull with non RFT

Lol I really want to go non RFT. But its far too cost ineffective to throw away almost new tires - will probably get £500-600 less for my Zed if I sell to a dealer without RFT from what some people are saying here, and I'll have to spend another £400-500 for a new set. Which in total is almost £1k hit.

I think I'll wait till I move to a house with garage (which hopefully is this year!), then change it all to non-RFT but keep the current RFT in the garage to be put on just before selling the car. That will 1/2 the cost atleast.

Bridgestone here I come then :(
 
I use my local indie tyre fitter (Tom Tully & Daughter) which is near Liverpool Airport in Speke.

I've never had a need to buy RFTs from them though as I've got an ///M, but they can normally get most tyres from their warehouse the same day if it's in stock.

Been to a place nr St. Helens - called Tyrewise in the end. Speke would have been much nearer! Mind you the guys there were ok and seemed professional enough. Decided to go for OEM bridgestone in the end - will be changing to non RFT when I move house and a place to store the RFT (so I can put them back on before selling). £119 for 17" RFT inc fitting is ok I think.

Mind you I quite like the idea of Michelin PS2 ZP as well - hmmmm food for thought
 
This is a useful thread. Comment:- if RFT are the OEM, and a member is thinking of changing to non-RFT, wouldn't it be the case that the car won't have space for a spare tyre?
 
///m owners have non RFT as OEM. They dont have space saver either - they just get the BMW motability kit (£75 says my dealer) and gunk for punctures. Oh and a good recovery membership :)

Tire place I went to today said they'll fit non RFT on my 3.0se Z4 but they said I'll have to sign a disclaimer as this is not the recommended tire. Which is why I'm still torn between better RFT or non RFT!

My fitter said I would have to sign one to, but when they fitted they never bothered.
 
Cool, sounds like a standard a thing to get them off the hook. Seeing as Michelin's PS2 225/45RZ17 ZP doesn't exist in uk (as their UK site doesn't mention it either), I might have little choice but to go non RFT. Goodyear's F1 Assym in RFT might be another option though.

Cant wait till we get to move & do normal staff - like clean & wax car without having to use mate's drive, store tires (& other spare parts) in the garage or even use vaccum cleaner to do the inside!
 
Looking on the net Asymms in RFT is not much different in price from OEM Bridgestone. I'm thinking about it but not sure if it will justify almost £500 price tag for changing all 4 corners.

May be its a message from higher being to switch to 18" wheels :rofl: ?
