Is anyone breaking a Titan Silver E85?

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I was crashed into last week on my way to work and it has been confirmed that my car is written off. I am strongly considering buying the car back to repair and just wondered, is anyone breaking a Titan Silver E85 that does not have any near side panel damage? Ideally, I'd be looking for the following parts:

-Near side front wing
-Near side door
-Near side skirt/sill cover
-Near side wing mirror (electric heated but not auto folding).
-Near side front wheel arch liner.
-Possibly a rear wing too (although this could be repaired).

I'd also need the wing to skirt clips and the panel clips used to secure the skirt itself but I can always source these from BMW. I have found one breaking on Gumtree and I've sent the person message but if anyone has these parts available on the forum in Titan Silver, please let me know. Here's the car:

Gutted for you OP, I know your pain as my car has been driven into 3 times in the last year! Thankfully each of them was relatively minor - nothing like what you've gone through, but after the insurance wrote of my car on the first accident, I've replaced each (slightly damaged) panel with salvage pieces from ebay. Mine is titan silver as well and I've been lucky to find TS salvage parts; easiest way to to search using the part numbers which you can get off RealOEM. I've found C and C Car Parts (.co.uk) to usually have something in stock; they have an ebay store.

Doesn't help you but I have a salvage driver's side wing sitting in the workshop which I was going to stick up on here; nothing for the passenger side though. The good news is everything tends to be bolt on/bolt off, so easy to replace parts as long as the structure underneath is relatively unscathed.

Not breaking a titan silver but I am a silver grey and have all the parts you need.

Would do you a deal if you wanted all the parts.
 
Hi Jon. That's a real shame about your car :( I would be beside myself if that happened to mine :cry: For parts try C&N BMW Breakers, Mill Entrance, Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington BB5 5HD, 01254 230033 They're usually breaking several Z4s and I've had a few minor parts from them myself :thumbsup: It was good to see Emily and yourself last Sunday :) Hope you had a good journey home and hope you get your Z4 sorted :thumbsup:

Hello everyone and thanks very much for all the replies. It is a real shame but at least no one was hurt. Thanks for all the suggestions of places to try for parts too. I will certainly have a look.

Thanks synthedup, I may take you up on that offer depending on what I decide to do. I'm going to try and get the wing off this weekend to see what it looks like underneath, this will hopefully help me to make a decision on whether to repair it. It has been classified as a category S write off though as it has damaged the end of the sill slightly. Having had a closer look tonight, it looks as though it has ripped the spot welds so I am not sure if the sill has moved or just the inner wing. Hopefully it'll become clearer once the wing is off.

A sad sight indeed! :cry: It’s actually very uncommon to have a Z4 being broken on the forum... I can’t say I remember one being broken since I joined... and now we have two at the same time!

Has it been written off as non structural damage then? All just bolt on replacements? Good luck in the project you’ve found yourself in! :thumbsup:

Hi Kis,

Sadly it has been classed as a category S with light structural damage. The problem as it stands is it's difficult to tell the extent of the damage until I can take the wing off. The wing has actually deformed over the edge of the bonnet slightly so I need to pull/hammer the wing back first so I can open the bonnet.

I know the car will effectively be worth nothing financially but I'm trying to decide whether to but it back and repair it or not (it's currently on my drive). Originally, it just looked like a minor dent to the end of the sill structure (when you pull the skirt back) but on closer inspection I've noticed it's ripped at least two of the spot welds between the sill and inner wing/a post. I'm going to try to take the wing off this weekend and get one of the local body shop guys I know to come and have a look too. Hopefully this will help make up my mind.

That sounds quite boarder line. Might be worth considering adding yourself to the list of Z4 breakers on the forum!

If it’s classed as structural then probably too costly as these cars are getting on a bit. Even as a N they probably won’t repair... which is what happened to one of our cars a year or two back. But that’s straight forward with 2nd hand parts. The cat S would probably scare me as the cars geared towards the sports end, hard cornering, possible track days, etc. I’d be worried to push it to the limit? Worth considering when you’re weighing things up. Guess it all depends on what’s happened behind that wing. Good luck with it all! :thumbsup:
 
I think insurers are taking the easy way out and classifying everything as Cat S!

My nephew had a collision with a Tesco delivery van last year in his E46 325i Touring. All they had was the photos from his phone, but they decided based on those is was a Cat S. They didn't even send anyone to look at it.

As it was he took what they offered and kept the car as he loved it, and Imola Red Sport Tourings aren't easy to find!

He got a 2nd bonnet on Ebay and bought a pair of front wings (one was just because it had rusty arches) and a wheel-arch liner for the side that got hit and had all the front end painted within the settlement he got.

It really should have been a Cat N, but his insurers weren't willing to budge. :headbang:

Anyway good luck whatever you decide to do OP. :thumbsup:
 
Well when OP said insurance said cat S then I assumed they actually looked at it, not at photos (which is what they may have done - I think that’s what they did with our car now that I think about it!)

Get that wing off OP and take a look! :)
 
Thanks for all the replies. I know what you mean, cars seem to be written off very easily now, certainly based on the repair estimates using brand new components. An engineer has been out and assessed the car and although I haven't removed the wing, I've managed to pull it back slightly and that's when I noticed the spot welds. A guy from a local body shop I know is hopefully going to pop by to have a look tomorrow to give me a better idea of what it will cost to repair the structural damage (and the extent of it) and hopefully this will help me make my decision.
