Is an auto ok?

unless it’s the 35is with the DCT auto :poke:

+1, especially when you work out how to get all the settings right

The 8HP in the G29 is another step up imo :driving:
Is there more settings than sport?

Ive got the 8speed Torque convertor box in the 335 and the 7speed DCT in the 35is (I don't know the nomenclature ) but both are good gearboxes and it will be a cold day in hell before I drive a manual again.

Modern Auto boxes are always in the correct gear - I was on the Autobahn when I first had an auto 3.0l Z4 and Its strange to hear the car change down at 100mph! In a manual car I probably wouldn't have bothered but the Auto knew best!

An old boy I knew, hated Auto boxes as he said that he wanted to be in charge - He was always in the wrong gear and missing changes to an embarrassing degree

However the Auto v Manual is that perennial never to be answered correctly question - it boils down to personal choice.

But he got driver satisfaction because he had a manual!

And he got satisfaction knowing HE was responsible for wrecking the gearbox and it wasn't being done on his behalf.

The same chap was an observer with the IAM

At least a wrecked manual box won't cost as much to repair / replace as an auto. See another plus for the manual!

That quote wasn’t mine!

Yeh autos have paddle shift (my model does 3.0si coupe) Cant comment on other auto’s sure there’s a mix of engines/gearbox set ups….

Just to get back on the matter - 2/3 months in to an auto and absolutely I love with the thing….

don’t get me wrong there is that split second auto lag but what comes next makes up for it….

Not the most responsive/best driving machine in the world but the looks make up for any imperfections…..

Dream car - long time coming and hasn’t disappointed yet….

Might be joining you mate auto makes a heap of sense

I might have worded my question wrong earlier I did mean all the z4 coupes in auto having paddles not sure if they do

With the sports button pressed, my car really is responsive, I don't want for more.
