Is 40.3 MPG the highest MPG on the 2.5?

I'm buggered if I can get more than 27mpg in my 2.5 - but most of my time is spend driving around London!

D.

Have you tried resetting the MPG thing when you fill the car up again?

Now averaging around 40mpg every day but I am driving 200+ miles round trips!

Sure have - and did 40.15 driving from Rickmansworth to the end of the M1 last weekend ... but give the Z4 the full length of City Road, Euston Road and on west at Monday morning rush-hour and it's down below 30 again!!

i've gotten 42.3 on the highway if i pussyfoot it... if i cruise at 70mph, then i'll hit 38's or so.... average combined driving is 27 city/hwy

oops... on the 3.0i engine

27 seems to be the magic number for me too ... Mostly highway with sport mode on frequently.

I think anything greater than 35mpg (USA) is impossible, unless your driving downhill.

Only getting 25mpg (personal best is 26mpg) That's doing about 13 miles to work and 13 miles back.

3.4 Engine though :)

If that's what driving economically does for you, then I'm gonna drive with a heavy right foot all of the time ... :exitright:

Agreed. Hyper-miling in a Z4 seems kind of lame anyway. Strips the smile right off your face.

I'm leaving on a trip from Salt Lake City to Denver and back this afternoon. This will be my first all highway trip, so I will see how she does on the highway. So far my best has been around 25mph but I average around 20mph (my last tank was 19.5), about half in town and the rest on the interstate.

I'll report back on my highway milage after the weekend. :tumbleweed:

On a 537 mile trip I got 32.2 mpg going and 29.7 returning. Of course this is a 2005 3.0 with Auto (US gallons  ). I came back a different way, same distance, just more traffic and more two lanes. The trip there was almost all interstate with the cruise set to 80 mph. Comming back a lot of road construction, stop and go, and about 200 miles of two lane. Probably had cruise on 200 miles tops.

On a 200 mile trip the other day I got 30.5 with a strong headwind. Then on the way back on the same route I got 33.6 with a slight tailwind. My speed was fairly consistent both ways (65-72 MPH), and elevation varied between 600 and 2000 ft. This is on the 3.0i using US gallons.
