Is £225+vat reasonable for a brake calliper

I have a sticky calliper its not too bad at the moment but it is getting worse so I asked the garage I use to quote for replacement OEM one ,he's telling me its a special order from BMW takes 3 days and it costs £225+vat

I know i could rebuild it for £50 but I don't have the time and I don't have anywhere to work on cars anymore as its parked on the street

what do you guys think of the price ??

Is that price for one or a pair? unless the car is quite new most brake parts are best changed as a pair simply because wear/corrosion inevitably follows in the other unit and it helps to make sure they are balanced.

Lots of places do exchange reconditioned (which I'm guessing is what you will get from BMW at that price for one) but prices will be half that or less. I can't remember who I got mine from but they were fine, you pay a deposit which is refunded when you return your old units. Even a garage should be able to source and supply cheaper than that.

if that's just a caliper then maybe from bMW but ECP was ~£100 exchange over counter. even cheaper if you get it online and collect.

£60 for a front caliper from euro car parts.depends what model you have. Replace the front pads at the same time. Very easy job

Yip, I was £120 for 2 recently but you need to return the used ones to get them @ that price.

I did, but probably didn't notice the sums on the return. Overall I was happy with the deal.

mine is a 2005 2.5 se not sure if your one would fit
