I have a pre facelift with business CD and a CD changer in the centre console cubby. I have bluetooth but do not have sat nav / screen. I understand the best options are DICE Silverline or Dension Icelink. Are there pros and cons to each or same functionality?

I had a Dension from 2003 to 2011 (Same unit) in 2 x E46 and 1 X E85. Was great unit and only replaced with an Intravee when I got my current car.

They let you have five playlists (buttons 1-5) which is best to label 1-5 in iTunes so they correspond. From memory you can get to other playlists through button 6 (setup)

Ha just sold my silver line on here

It works great and sounds great and is easy to install

It quite hardy to navigate through you album or artist list on the hu its easier just to use the ipod imo

Do you know if the unit will shuffle within the playlist? I guess this is an ipod feature so I assume it will work. The Dension units seem to sell for a bit less compared to the Dice.

I've got the dension Gateway BT Lite (bought from a forum member just before Christmas) and I had one in my Mini Cooper S a few years back too.

Very easy to install (other than removing the central vent - can be a right pain) and works great, I would highly recommend. You can set up no.s 1 - 5 on headunit to match playlists on ipod but I find it much easier to just use the ipod when selecting music.

I set my ipod on album shuffle and this works through the dension just fine. You could set on song shuffle if you want also.
