ipod connector wanted...

Hi I have car with Satnav, and am looking for a compatible way to install my ipod. Has anybody got a unit for sale?

Or could you recommend a reasonably cheap way of doing it?

I understand that the Headunit already has the option of plugging a cable in the back, which can then be mouted wit an in-line jack to plug in the ipod? Or could you just plug in bewteen the cd multichanger and HU?

I`m sure this has been covered before, sorry to open up old posts :)

I really need some new tunes, my cds are being overplayed now, and music is so much cheaper now through downlods then buying a CD at Tesco!

Dension, Dice, Intravee etc are all "complete" options. There's massively differing opions on all of them.

Or put an aux cable in for a few quid and 30 mins work. My iPod lives on permanent shuffle anyway...

Hi Stuart, (aux cable) can you fit this from the back of cd changer?
where can I get one from?

Can you tell me what differences they have? I think I would like something that can select tracks individually through the ice-links.

Do all of them have to be mouted from the headunit?

Regards,
Dean

in which case if you can fit an AUX input they are mounted under radio on surface pointing towards the ashtray ,in case you have one ,
then this works a treat

just got one and works brilliantly only downside no power to charge but there is a lighter socket below and a brodit mount does the trick ....cheaply

I can only advise on the aux cable. I fitted a Dension to my mini once but that was a very different beast. You can use the same aux cable from a mini or an E46 and either find one on "buy and sell" here, fleabay or the dealer if you're desperate to spend money. Depending upon your head unit and options (Nav, multi CD changer etc) you'll either be able to plug it in as is, or you'll have to remove the wires from the block it comes with and put them into the same spots on the block already in the car. This just needs a jewellers flat screwdriver (or a paperclip) to push down on the tabs and a little patience. From start to finish it took me just under 30 minutes to fit. First time taking the head unit out can be "interesting" (in the Chinese curse sense of the word) but there are plenty of really well written how-to guides on here that you really can't go wrong. Normal rules apply, if you're having to force it you're doing it wrong!

Would this be any good?

That's one step up from an Aux input, depends how much you want to spend and what your priorities and preferences are.

- Do you want you hide the iPod away and have full control from the monitor/wheel, or use the iPod itself for control (illegal while driving in the UK)?
- Do you want integrated charging or will a cable from the cigarette lighter do?
- Do you want simple text display on the monitor?
- Do you want comprehensive display on the monitor?

my Dension gateway 300 will be up for grabs in a couople of weeks. Swapping head unit, so won't be needed!
