Ok,

So seemed to open a can of worms with my last thread about connecting an ipod.. :tumbleweed:

In simple terms is it possible to have the part No od the special lead to play the ipod through the speakers, the lead which means you can still have the 6CD changer...

Any info would be appreciated, Where from ? How much ? etc...

many thanks...

What yo need then is an AUX in connector

or Dension Gateway, which supports CD changer with additional interface (so I believe)

not sure what the features Phatbox and Intreven (or what ever it called) have.

PVR will tell you about the later if you ask him nicely.

I bought this part for mine: 65120153502 from my dealer for £40
I also have the cd-changer and didnt want to lose it... if you fit it yourself you have to fiddle with the plugs on the end of the cables (the end that plugs into the radio) - cd changer and AUX cable use the same plug but you can get the pins out of one of the plugs quite easily and put in the corresponding holes of the other plug. Now Im wishing Id taken photos - but it is quite simple when in front of you.

I have the fitting instructions that the dealer printed for me, I could scan them in, though not sure how much help they would be... they cover 3/5/X5/X3 as well as z4!

Hope this helps?

I have an 03 car with CD changer, when I did the AUX adapter last month it fitted in the plug next to the CD on on the back of the radio.

An ar5e to do with fat hands but about 1 hr tops.

The photo's have gone but the txt is still top notch

I have the Aux socket in my Z4 and it works fine for me, but last weekend I installed a Harmon Kardon Drive&Play 1 in my Toyta jeep and its amazing.

Took less than one hour to wire it in. Has a proper ipod connector, small b&w screen that can be sited anywhere on the dash plus a separate control knob that mimics the ipod controls. Wiring it into the stereo you have 2 choices. Firstly, a lead that connects to an AUX socket. Secondly, an aerial splitter whereby you take the aerial lead out of the rear of your radio, plug it into this splitter box and then plug the splitter box back into your radio. It works via FM transmission but when your using the ipod it disconnects your car aerial.... great! In UK we get the aerial splitter kit included with the main kit but I think elsewhere its an option.

So far, no FM interference at all. And, for £50 inc postage for the whole kit somewhat of a bargain. The best bit? The sound quality. My Toyota jeep now has better audio sound than the Bose system in my bosses Audi.

The HK unit is currently £99 in Halfrauds or £79 online (pls excuse the UK only references...!!) but i got it from http://www.iceclearout.co.uk. You have to call them as its not listed on their site now, but when I got mine they had 120 in stock!

So you can get a switch that reconnects the aerial when the iPod is off?
I lost my aerial all together when Halfords fitted the unit... loosing the use of the radio

the splitter disconnects the aerial signal when the drive&play is turned on. When the drive&play is turned off the aerial works as normal as the splitter routes the signal from the aerial to the stereo. Kind of like an automatic switch. Always wondered how well trained these guys at halfords are for specialist stuff. A mate of mine had a parrot handsfree installed by them and the guy wired the power cable into the diff-lock switch on his nissan pathfinder causing the diff-lock switch to fail and permanently jam on his diff-lock. £180 to fix. Maybe your guy didn't connect the splitter correctly? Might be worth checking.
