Hi,

Went to BMW Dealership the other day, took the following number with me for the cable: 82 11 0 153 367

They said it didn't exist anymore, but another one might work....it didn't, completely different end. 65 12 0 308 752

What cable should i be getting and has anyone ordered one recently and from where?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi this is the part number of the one i bought from my local dealer,65 12 0 153 502 i think it was about £40 there and there abouts, and have had no problems with it hope that is of some help

I just ordered and received my aux connect cable from local dealer (Stephen James, Blackheath). Part number is 65120153502 and it cost me £38.30+vat. Different to the iPod kit (which they also had in stock, part number 65410409611) which charges the player etc. Personal preference was the standard aux cable so I could plug in any jack cable device I wanted. After a quick straw poll on the forum it would seem that the favoured place to feed it through to is the ashtray.

Headunit end they should be plug and play.

You could try Daveg's suggestion of Soper's in Lincolnshire. Apparently they're pretty ace at sourcing and delivering parts at sensible prices.

Ta Chaps, will get one ordered tomorrow :) Took me 2 mins to get vents out and radio out, lucky for me, so this will be a quickie mod :)

Very lucky you; apparently it's a beeatch of a job. Still plucking up the courage to take on my vents. Enjoy the mod! :)

One vent needed to do clip, second, the clip wasn't engaged, so pulled and lifted and it came out. Radio easy out too.

Put both back in and feels snug, although my vents arent clipped in, they dont move lol Lucky I guess, will try and lift clip up to engage once i have cable in.

The key on the vent was to pull and lift up as well.

Right i'm miffed off!!!!!

Ordered the so called proper cable and it's exactly the same as the first one i ordered just a different part number.

The connector still doesn't match up with the cd one (white cable) that I have taken out.

What am i doing wrong!!!!!!! Do I have tight stereo, cable, am I mentally challenged?

So far I have tried the following cables:

65120153502

82110153367

65120308752

Help Please!!!

Here's a photo of what it looks like, the black is the ipod cable supposedly, in fact what they all look like, next to, well the white bit, cant get a clear pic of the design, but it's not the same.

it isnt the CD changer cable that you replace...

there is another block that the AUX fits into in the bottom left of the radio as you look at the back of the radio. It may already be used for Bluetooth though so you would have merge the plugs with a small screw driver (should be obvious once there)...

Merge plugs? Small screwdriver...mmmmm

I thought it was the cd cable i was replacing as you cant use it afterwards? You take it out and put this one in I thought?

If I look at the bottom left of the radio from the back, the only thing there is that white plug, which has identical pins, but the wrong plastic surround to the replacement ipod connector. Will have another lookie, although, im pondering giving up and just putting some earphones in my ears tbh.

When i did mine the plug for the Aux cable slotted in next to the one for the changer,i have the bogo standard Business unit, and still have full use of the changer as well even though some have said you can't have use of both.
I'm away till the w/end if your still having problems i'm happy to get the radio out and have a look and post a pic.Good luck

Lol, right, my feeble brain has worked it out :P

You are correct, you have to take the bottom right area out (not left), then add the wires from that into the ipod connector. Finally worked that bit out lol. Small screwdriver helped. i plugged it all back in and got no radio, then realised i hadn't put the radio wire in as i took it out before...yep im like that.

Drilled hole in the blanking plate (decided to do that, as discrete), popped the end through, and dropped the washer down behind my seat. Spent 20 mins trying to find it, seat up, down, back forward, head under seat, behind seat, gave up and will hopefully find a similar sized washer at maplins etc.

I'm knackered lol, time for a brewskie!

Then

Vents out? Piece of cake. Even Mr Cack Handed from Cackhand Town in Cackhandshire could do it, trust me :headbang:

Vent's were the easy bit and the radio etc, it was working out where to put the cable and where to lose the washer lol :)

Glad you got it sorted

lol about losing the washer! Give me a shout if you can't find one as I didn't use mine.
