iPhone snap-in adaptor

Certainly looks like there's adaptors out ther but dunno if they fit the Z.

Seasons greetings all! I got one of the ProClip mounts for my 1G iPhone and it works well in combination with that official BMW aux cable deal. I was lucky enough to actually get mine installed by the expert ProClip installers. It's mildly tricky as you need to gradually scoot it along the really tight edge where the aluminum trim meets the leather. It ended up just to the right of the stereo so I can see maps and whatever else from the leftside driver's seat. There is a bit of a metallic rattle between the aux cable and the iPhone plug but it disappears with the top down. 
I've been meaning to try to insert a piece of electrical tape (bicycle inner tube was too fat) between the jack and plug to see if that does anything to the rattle.

The original fitted Snap in box is too narrow to take the standard BMW iphone snap in cradle .The wider girth of smart phones is the problem
The solution is you need a new box which is the bit that is wired in .The standard BMW iPhone (3G/3GS ) cradle then snaps into the the new wider box .
The 3G/3GS then fits as you would expect .
but of course the iP4 does not fit the 3G/3GS cradle so we have to wait for it to appear
if you need more info let me know .Any Dealer will identify parts via the vin ..............I think it may need a recode but not sure

Thanks, all makes sense. I assume that I would need a new box as it appears to be quite narrow. Any ideas on cost to fit new box and iPhone cradle?
The new box takes the fitting ................no idea had the Dealer do it
The old part has a cable running out with plug which goes under armrest at back
Cradle easy ........ just snaps into the " box" and the iphone ( currently only the 3G/GS ) into cradle
On second thoughts probably does not need a recode ,Mine did but they also fitted an iPod connection kit which certainly did

The standard BMW cradle (3G/ 3GS) doesn't fit properly, however you can shave away the plastic around the side of the cradle so it fits. It is a bit of a faff but it does work. Or at least mine works fineryukin said:

BMW has released a new box to take the wider Apple iphone cradle
