Im ummmming and arrrrrrrring about iphone connectivity options
One of them is the Aux line method - Retaining full control on the ipod

However, Where and how are people mounting thier (i)phones?

any pictures or tips would be great
I saw a post about "proclip" in the states. Looks ok.
My iphone has a hard shell/case/surrounding... wondering how to do it :?
 
DSL developments sell the Brodit iphone holder, they do an adjustable one for phones with a cover. I bought one for my son for xmas.

If i can open the charger and hard wire it into the cig lighter and then run the aux lead up to the back of the stereo i think it should be fine. Got other stuff to do in the meantime though :)

I'm using the TomTom mount with the iPhone as it's a nice compact mount and can swivel, which a lot can't.

I'm also intending on hard-wiring the power so I don't have to leave it in the cigarette lighter socket, however - I've decided not to use a feed from the cigarette lighter socket as that is permanently live and I'd rather not put extra drain on the battery. I'll try and take a feed off something which is live with ignition position 1, perhaps one of the feeds to the radio/nav system.

I'm not intending on using the iPhone for audio as I've fitted the Intravee and an Alpine KCA420i into the boot and am on the scavenge for a separate iPod which will be permanently mounted in the boot behind the carpet. I figured I'd rather stump up 40quid or so for a second hand iPod to be dedicated to the car rather than compromise on the positioning of the iPhone or having to have a cable coming to/from it.

The intravee is really nicely integrated too - much nicer than the Dice systems which seem to have got a lot of negative feedback on the various forums.

(Would still like to have a clip-in for the bluetooth kit to mount the phone in the arm-rest though, if nothing else just to make use of the external antenna for the times when the iPhones signal isn't very strong)
