It is for a Sony Xperia Z phone. It is very sturdy though and well worth the money I paid, am very happy with it. Just need to get the car coded now to not charge via the cig lighter when the ignition is off, at present it still lights up the blue light on the charger so wonder whether I risk a flat battery leaving it in for too long unused.
The overall mount and charger plugged in, it uses two contact points on the side of the phone to charge without plugging anything in directly.
The top of the mount actually goes into the dash, the mount comes with two wedges you force in to make a slight gap.
The bottom is indeed a clip that just slots in as shown here, took some force to get it clipped in so it is a tight fit and won't move.
Finally an image showing the two parts of the mount. The phone part screws into the mount part with four self threading screws (provided) as shown here.
I could never get any sort of holder to stick to the glass on the right side for easy access, due to curviture I presume. Hence going for the above. Its not bad in terms of accessibility to be honest.
I can quite easily change maps etc on my phone while it is there.
The Brodit mount is the best option IMO - you just need to be sure you choose the right iPhone cradle as there are a few different ones, e.g. with or without an Apple bumper.
The mount above will only fit where the pictures show - it is specifically designed for the Z4 dash, so a perfect fit and well within easy reach. If you want to play music from your phone you'll need either an aux-in port (you can seen Disca's on the right of the third picture, that's where it is when it is factory fitted), a Bluetooth FM receiver thingy, or an Intravee 2 with an Alpine unit. I have the latter, cost me £160 second hand with all the wires, and is dead easy to fit. Lots of threads in the audio section if you search for Intravee
Thanks Bing. Just looked at the website and it is so confusing! Went to the iPhone 5s section and there's 4 options each with about 6 options underneath each one?
I'll be getting a 3.5ml lead so just want the holder to hold the phone but I have no idea with all these options
653655 is the item number of the mounting bracket.
As for the phone itself the multiple options are all down to if you have like a case on your phone or not, some appear to be adjustable if you have like a case on the phone.
So you would need to choose both the mounting bracket and one of the four above, it you have a case on your phone then there are also the other options that can adjust their size slightly.
