Iphone/Intravee

you may need a scosche connector as the 5v wire was changed between iPhones (versions 3S to 4 IIRC...)

Is this the reason for the male to female connector which I removed??? :?

might be - it's a block connector (see here)
Note that the connecting cable (from iPhone to the scosche) must be a passthrough cable as well - i expect as yours is working , it will be though.

That's the component I removed which was giving the faulty connection.

Will it not charge without it?

I will put it back on tomorrow and tape it up to try to get a better connection. If not - I will get a new one

cheers

Nope, unless you have an iPhone 3G or older. The newer iPhones switched the 5V charging connection...

Glad you appear to have it sorted. First cradle I'm aware of being adapted to connect to an intravee.

+1. Would be interested in pictures of the connections

Connected everything up tonight and put all panels back.

Display showed the song being played and music played correctly.

I then started trying different items on menu and when I pressed fast forward the music stopped and all I get is static and clicking.

So frustrated after amount of time already spent on the issue. :headbang:

Anyone any ideas or an instruction manual for the Intravee/Alpine unit

have a search through this forum for instruction manuals. Richardp is the guy who does all the support for the intravee.

After another frustrating night in the garage I think I have traced the problem to the scosche connector.

When I connected the Iphone to the lead from the Alpine unit it played straight away. When I connected it back using the connector it also worked but then failed after a few mins so may be heat affected?

Anyway, problem appears to be solved other than needing a new connector. :D Are they readily available in shops?

I will take photos of the cradle showing the ipod lead connection, not had chance at the present time due to the above problem.

Mine is a Scosche connector (purchased in the US) and has never had heat issues. I would be wary of cheap ones on ebay, but you will find a good quality one
here - I have the CableJive passthrough cable, and its excellent quality so would expect the connector to also be good quality.

What's your location? Perhaps you could use another member's connector to confirm your diagnosis?

Thanks.

I've ordered this connector.

I know the component is faulty as the iphone plays music when I connect both cables together. But then it doesn't charge !!!

Hopefully all resolved by Tuesday next week.

Photos as requested.

It definitely plays and charges the Iphone 4. Not sure all functions work but the main ones do!!!

I assume that they have connected the extension cable to the cradle charging port in some way. I don't want to chance taking it apart to see :D
