iPhone fitted... kind of...

I plan on having the Parrot kit fitted but too many bills recently to spend all that, so for a stop-gap, bought the new Belkin Tunebase...

Only done a short test, sound quality at normal volume is fine, if you pause it so its silent, you can hear a slight hiss. If you turn it up loud, you also get a slight hiss, so not perfect audio, but seeing as my cd player and cd changer only work when they feel like it, I'm just glad to have some new music in the car! :D

The flexible neck is quite stiff, and doesnt hold the iphone in exactly the right position, but hope this will improve after I twist it a few times.

Not a perfect solution, but it charges the iphone 3G, and can be used in landscape too, so I can watch videos with sound through the speakers :D and before anyone asks, I do watch bits of films or tv shows in the car quite often, so this should be quite a nice feature :thumbsup:

Only £45 from Makro, so will do until I get the parrot (i hope)
 
Interesting, so is it literally just hanging out of the cig lighter- no fixture to the car at all?

For those without Sat Nav I suppose it would be handy for looking at the maps!
 
Yep, just pushes into the cig lighter. It has a rubber part that seats tightly, but to keep the phone stable, you need to angle the arm correctly so that it rests against the air-con console. I had it playing Ice Age 3 tonight, angled towards the passenger letting the girlfriend watch it while I drove home. It works pretty well, the sound isn't bad at all.

It does say it rotates for sat nav use, although as its low down in the car, you'd have to take your eyes off the road a far bit to look at it.
 
Hi just saw your thread on the above for your I Phone I use the same unit for my Ipod Touch. Just bought a Zed and have put my Belkin Tunebase in the cigarette lighter but the green light stays on when car is switched off. This didn't happen in my celica the unit turned off when the engine was turned off so worried this might drain the car battery or be a fire hazard when left. Did you have the same?
 
My 07 has power permanently to the socket so I suspect it is common across the model year span
