Just a thought, but what about going down the AUX cable mod route? Doesn't give you full iPod/iPhone integration but I suppose it would be a cheap stopgap until you can afford to do something a bit more definitive?
No-one has mentioned an Intravee - that is by far your best bet for playing music from your iPhone through the stereo, and is great when used with nav.
No offence, but that really isn't clear, and as others have said you didn't originally state whether you wanted to make calls through it or play music. So anyone can easily be forgiven for not understanding your requirements.
Can anybody help me get straight to a solution for iphone connectivity in an 03 Z4 ?
If you think I am being lazy not searching through threads you are right I am,..don't waste any typing giving me a lecture
There's a reason people suggest you search through old posts, as it usually gives you the answer straight away, rather than having to waste a thread ( and 2 days ) on it.
Audio, Nav & Bluetooth
[*] Up to date Bluetooth Compatibility List
[*] Post 2007 cars have an auxilliary in, (for MP3 Players). This is an easy retrofit.
[*] For more useful Ipod Integration (particularly if you have NAV), the favourite seems to be the Intravee, but there is also Dension, and the BMW unit which both have mixed reviews.
[*] There are 3 Audio options in the Z4. Basic, Hifi and DSP (Carver/Logic7). Basic has 6 speakers & no amp (with 8 visible grills), Hifi has 10 speakers with an optical amp, and DSP is the Carver system with 10 speakers, optical amp and DSP settings you can change. If you have cubby boxes behind the seats you have basic, if you have DSP settings you have the DSP, anytihng else you have the Hifi option. Anything other than the Basic Hifi is incredibly difficult to upgrade. Carver was the original Launch top Hifi named after the company that designed the Speakers, after 2007 it became the Logic7 system, all have Phillips Speakers.
I suggest you read up by googling either Intravee (which I have, & it rocks) the Simple Aux-In or the Dension units.

Out of interest, what difference is there between an Intravee and a Dension Gateway? I've been considering getting a Dension purely to plug my iPod 5G into.
