Iphone Compatability with Sat Nav

How compatable is the iPhone with the latest 2011 idrive professional sat nav system
At present I have an old Nokia phone which does a lot of the functions but thinking of changing to an iPhone,
possibly the 4, dont think budget will go to the 4s But am I going backwards in the comparability
What functions are you getting?.

I upgraded to a Nokia Lumia 800 2 weeks ago, and it works perfectly with my E89. I can call the numbers from mobile's phone book, and head unit can display all numebrs from phone book.

I would suggest that the E89 is compatible with the iPhone
Generally the cars struggle to cope with latest phones, you have latest technology both ends
that said my 2x car's bluetooth both cope fine with iPhones like Stuart's
and don't forget Apple now only sell the iPhone4 in 8gb guise

Most important is the iOS5 which delivers most of the features
