be interested to know where the " genuine apple spare parts are not available" came from.

I found a couple of repair shops in the Uk and the ones here in Norway who claim that all parts are all genuine apple supplied ......

would like to follow that up if its true, I know making a claim like that and the using counterfeit parts would get them shut down and financially crippled ......

Who are these guys and if MAC authorised repairers and claiming to be iPhone approved they will be dealt with

I repeat Apple do not repair anywhere in world or supply iPhone spares they are all refurbished with exception of my comment on screens

if you let them anywhere near an iPhone it will void the warranty and any post warranty service .

Apple makes it clear the iPhones are not and never have been user serviceable and that includes 3rd parties taking a screwdriver to it

I will pop into the appleshop tomorrow where I got the phone and have a word, see what they say.

Be interesting to follow this up ........

If you go to apple.com and click on support you can get to chat live with the apple help line.

in answer to some direct questions, Apple does authorise private shops to repair and refurbish iPhones, and they do supply them with approved parts .... they will have an Apple Approved logo.

horses mouth and all that ........

You are correct ....FOR MAC ,Apple do not authorise anyone to repair an iPhones fact of life ....so who are these guys and lets see how Apple react
You need your get your mind round what happens for MAC is different on the iPhone

Here is a hint if they are legit ,why do Apple (for Norway ) tell users to contact either the Carrier if source of iPhone or Apple if purchased from Ap[ple direct ,no mention of "these approved repairers "

Sorry to go one but there is so much c**p around about Apple and I do actually know what I am talking about

well I dont have a Mac .... and I had to give the Apple people the serial number of the iPhone 5s before they would start the chat .... and the whole conversation was about my iPhone .....
we discussed the screen damage and talked about the bits needed .....

just looking in the UK and geeksquad.co.uk are also an approved iPhone repairer .... authorised by apple, not affecting warranty etc ....

i agree there are lots of unauthorised repairers as well ....

fact remains though that Apple told me themselves that iPhones can and are repaired by authorised repair centres using genuine Apple Parts.

even so I will pop into the Apple House tomorrow and get their confirmation as well.

Grateful for my free insurance that comes with my bank account then :)

Yeah, we thought that until they told us we have to pay £70 excess.
Better paying £130 than £200 tho.

Uh ... my maths makes that paying £70 instead of £200 ....

But when you add in the price of your bank account - £15 per month or so??? Thats £180 on top of the £70 no?

Nothing is ever "free" with your bank account!
