iPhone audio 'Y' cable

Evening all - hope you're having a good Christmas :)

Just wondering if anybody has had any issues with the 'Y' cable that can be used to get the iPhone audio & controls through the stereo - mine sounds really bass-heavy and distorted, even at low volumes. Does anybody else get this? Is there a control somewhere to change the sensitivity of the input? I know there's one for the AUX input but I can't find one for the iPhone when it's connected.

Cheers!

As I recall the Y cable uses the earphone socket to play music, so you can control bass within your iPhone (settings/music/EQ), to be honest it's much better to use a dedicated USB storage device and your collection of songs in mp3 format

While I agree to an extent, I do like the idea of the convenience of the Y cable simply because I can stream from TuneIn radio, and I can download something from iTunes and play it immediately without having to remember to stick it on a USB stick when I am at home :)

It's just a shame it sounds so naff at the moment, especially because I'm sure it's not supposed to!

djstan, I always have my iPhone music set to 'small speakers' and have no issues. I find that gives the best all round sound for using my B&O headphones as well as in the car if using the cable :)

You can also change the treble and bass setting in the car as well as moving the sound slightly to the rear but that's possibly a better option re moving the sound more towards the rear if you have the upgraded speaker package.
