iPhone audio 'Y' cable

Evening all - hope you're having a good Christmas

Just wondering if anybody has had any issues with the 'Y' cable that can be used to get the iPhone audio & controls through the stereo - mine sounds really bass-heavy and distorted, even at low volumes. Does anybody else get this? Is there a control somewhere to change the sensitivity of the input? I know there's one for the AUX input but I can't find one for the iPhone when it's connected.

As I recall the Y cable uses the earphone socket to play music, so you can control bass within your iPhone (settings/music/EQ), to be honest it's much better to use a dedicated USB storage device and your collection of songs in mp3 format

While I agree to an extent, I do like the idea of the convenience of the Y cable simply because I can stream from TuneIn radio, and I can download something from iTunes and play it immediately without having to remember to stick it on a USB stick when I am at home

It's just a shame it sounds so naff at the moment, especially because I'm sure it's not supposed to!

djstan, I always have my iPhone music set to 'small speakers' and have no issues. I find that gives the best all round sound for using my B&O headphones as well as in the car if using the cable

You can also change the treble and bass setting in the car as well as moving the sound slightly to the rear but that's possibly a better option re moving the sound more towards the rear if you have the upgraded speaker package.
