iPhone adaptor help

Happy new year to you all!

I am having trouble trying to obtain a cable to plug my iPhone into the USB port on the car. My BMW dealer tells me that the OE cable has now been discontinued and they are unable to help, although I do have might doubts as to how true this is, as they never seem overly helpful.

I did purchase a cable off amazon, but the head unit comes up with a message saying that the cable is not compatible.

Are there any other tried and tested cables for the e89? I have USB and Aux sockets in the centre armrest.

I have 2012 E89 and swiped the lead out of my wife’s 320D which works fine. This this the standard BMW Y lead with USB and 3.5mm jack plug and works fine. Hope this helps

Doesn’t your usb - lightning cable that would have come with your iphone work? Does with mine. Why do you need the 3.5mm jack plug?

Do it doesn’t unfortunately. I have a couple of genuine apple cables and they all seem to do the same. Very annoying.

No, there were 4 different / overlapping systems in UK variants, I still haven’t worked out why there were all the variants ..LCI wasn’t really an issue in this regard...
