iPhone 4S advice - no sound

A friend gave me his iphone 3gs at xmas , i use it for texting & making phone calls , i even asked Voda to remove the Mb from my package & they said they couldn't as it was free , whatever else the phone can do is totally wasted on me :P i don't even want music on it .
45 yrs old & my kids have me down as a relic :oops: can light an open fire in minutes though :P
Hope you get a quick fix Ruby , my daughter has a 11am appointment in manchester istore tomorrow to sort her 4s out , i have always been impressed with their customer service

I can completely relate to this; I hate having to deal with IT at work because when it comes to anything like that I have absolutely no enthusiasm whatsoever. I had to buy a new printer scanner thingy the other week as in my frustration at the original one being so illogical I wacked it and smashed the glass. Felt a right plonker, never lose my rag with anything!

Yes, did this. I got this info from the Apple website when I booked the the appointment, it suggested some things to do. Basically all I feel like doing it giving this to a man and saying "fix it please" I can't even be bothered to faff with it anymore. But many thanks for advising :) .

If it is a failed device they do not repair
You get a service exchange replacement (factory refurb ,as new) either free if under warranty and qualifies or if out of warranty £139 over the counter

This is something I could possibly do too...
I'm quite surprised no one is laying into me for having such a lame attitude to this stuff.

Out of warranty by a month or so. For 139 pounds I may just stick to the vibrate function and wear my headphones all night to hear the alarm.
 
As an ex CTO I should be more tolerant, but in my younger, more hot headed days, I've thrown a mobile phone from a car on the motorway to see it disintegrate all over the road (very satisfying) and frisbee'd a laptop out of a window...

I'm (slightly) more mature these days :oops:

They may fix it if it is software issue or be generous in terms of warranty worth keeping appointment to see
Apple CS is usually very very good

I have a feeling this was a known bug when they launched the 4S? If its all updated already etc, make sure it's backed up before u go to Apple as they'll likely try to restore it... Good luck - Genius Bar has always been top notch in my exp so shud get it sorted! :thumbsup:
 
Trip to the Genius Bar has sorted out my phone. They replaced my speaker for £45 (was 3 months out of warranty). Thank you for all your advice :ilz4f:
