I would say try the two back to back before purchasing... like has been said earlier the fit'n'finish of the iPad is very nice, as is (IMO) the OS. Of course you do pay for it (lots) but I have the opinion that you tend to get what you pay for.

I am obviously biased as I moved to Apple hardware a few years ago (and never looked back), but all I will say is try before you buy, whatever choice you make :)

Totally agree with all that... and although this is slightly straying from the topic, if anyone has parents who are using (struggling?) with a netbook that they use for web/email/ebay etc then the iPad is a godsend in saving the usual 'tech support' calls. Battery life is epic and it is easy to use... my folks have just got one and I no longer get the calls about things crashing, going slow, out of space etc. It's great

I did exactly the same, and my dad told me the windows of the house are safe now. My mother threatened to throw the IBM Laptop many times through it ... :D

they also released AirPrint although the compatibility (so far) with available printers leaves something to be desired.

If you have a mac attached to the printer you can make it share any printer... bit of a hack but I've got it working v.nicely :)
I have that setup so I can use the mac to iPad bluetooth or network to print files then :?

If you have an HP Bluetooth printer, the HP Print app works well. Straight to the printer, no need for a PC to be connected.

Not sure about Bluetooth but network works fine. You need to run a little "hack" to get it to work and re-add your printer to the Mac, but once you have it set up it is seamless :) (works with pretty much any printer too, not just HP)

As above, I agree its brilliant for consuming documents and has a few flaws you need to work around, but after playing with one for half an hour in the Mac shop I decided to get one. The biggest pain IMO is there is no way to attach documents to an email in the email program, you have to do it the other way around (I.e. Open it in the program and select 'send as email'). However combined with Dropbox and a WiFi printer it does pretty much everything....

It's certainly no replacement for a computer, I use mine alongside a desktop Mac for 'proper' work
