Works fine with the AUX cable... Now it's time for iOS 4 with multitasking, put on TomTom and angrybirds for the passenger ;)

you're gonna, one day, punch that screen as you make a swift gear change.....

Will the TomTom app work though, as the iPad doesn't have gps as far as I'm aware?

The 3G model has GPS but WiFi only doesn't :D

I have the WiFi version, and it does have GPS actually.

he hasn't actually mounted it has he? Just rested it in front of the gear knob.

He'll lose it as soon as he turns left!

Maybe he should have it pop up like the sat nav screen, but then you will lose half your visiblity through the windsheild.

Just a bad idea in general methinks :P

It doesn't have A-GPS i.e. satellite GPS. Try and locate yourself with no web connection. It uses wifi location based on your IP address. Don't believe me? Read the specs under "Location": http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

That's lame. I hate the iPad :x

Is mounted, so when i'm taking the carrousel the iPad holds on ;) Like pvr said, 3G has a full gps onboard..

For al the thumbs down: watching z4-forum in a traffic jam is also possible with 3G

You go for it mate - Klarky also has his ipad set up as a sat nav etc and that looked like a mighty fine mod to me.

I get my ipad on monday. 3G version. cant wait!
I was wondering if it had any use/place being connected to my car, so good effort on getting creative

However i already have sat-nav so i don't think i would use your setup, and i also think that my hand would end up punching the screen when doing a hard change :headbang: . It would be nice to have such a big screen in a usable space in the car tho.

maybe navcoder can release an ipad app one day...

Ive got Navigon on my iPad only because it re-syncs app the apps from my iPhone 4. It would work fine if i used it in the car.

The iPad is great, I was alittle worried it had no place between the iphone and laptop / pc. It really does, instant start up huge battery life and surfing fourms is just soooo nice with out a mouse or touch pad.

Taking it away with us on holiday and putting a few films cartoons for the little one instead of the slighty large dvd player.

Cheers

PaulN

Ps still wouldnt have it hooked up in my car though.

So if I use that BMW cradle for iPhone it more or less does away with the nav unit built in (I didn't spec nav)
And blutooth etc?? :poke:
