More likely that home cinema equipment will be connected to to your home wifi; I use my iPhone for exactly this at the moment. Of course, my home cinema is set up through a MacBook pro (just until I get a mac mini to replace it).
I think people are missing the point of the iPad, I certainly did at first. It's not about catering to a current market, it's creating a new use case;
With the internet becoming more and more integral to our lives, the iPad is about having it right there when you're lounging on the sofa. In a more relaxed format than a laptop, which forces you to sit upright with room to move your arms to type etc.
It'll also be an awesome tool for creatives, architects, accountants... Anyone that has meetings where they may need to present to a client; pull it up on your iPad and hand it over.
It's an absolute game changer, you'll see... 10 years from now, the next generation will not be able to understand how we functioned without such devises.
