Intravee makes Satnav forgetful!

Hi
Finally got around to installing Intravee in my 2007 coupe.
I have the full nav with flip up screen.

Ever since the Intravee connection, my Satnav now no longer saves previous destinations (no new ones added to the recent addresses list since the install), it forgets where I am going if I turn off the engine (annoying as stop to fill up with petrol and have to reinput destination every time when I set off again).
And, it wants to do auto zoom on the Satnav whether I set it to do that or not, AND it always defaults back to pointing north orientation all the time (I like the perspective 3D view - it seems Intravee doesn't).

Have searched and cannot find anyone else has ever complained about it. Is it just me?

also tried to set 3 blink indicators via the Intravee - it worked for turning left, but for turning right. Right turn just flashed the headlights!!!
(Decided I could do without those so just turned that option off - I'm not really fussed about that, not the reason I got it).

Why is it so glitchy when everyone else's seems to be faultless.

I will point out that I have never connected it to my laptop or done any software updates - it arrived and I just shoved it in.

Is this my problem, do I need to do a software upgrade?
If I do, could someone provide a link to something that tells me how I do that? Sorry, I am a bit of a retard when it comes to computer stuff.

Im not really bothered about being able to set the three blink indicators or any of the extras it can apparently do, I just want my Satnav to get its memory back again and stop defaulting to settings I don't want.

Can anyone help?

Sorry for long post and thanks in advance.
Rich.

try updating to latest version

not had any of the above issues, sat nav saves places and indicatrs 3 times works, unlock on ignition off works

I've tried a newer software upgrade which seemed to upload to the intravee ok, aNd at first it looked like it was remembering old destinations - killed ignition and turned back on again and it still had the same destination on it, and it wasn't over-riding the perspective view or doing auto-zoom.
Went in happy and ate dinner.
Went out again after for a drive and a test, and back as it was.
Intravee diagnostics shows the new software update number, but didn't fix it.

The software update I did had a lower number than the one posted above so I'll try that tomorrow and see if any change - thank you.
(Didn't see if the 3 blink indicators worked - I'm not so fussed about that - just want the satnav to behave like it did before the install).

If that upgrade doesn't help I'll join that forum and post on RichardPs thread.
Thanks for help.

Nope. Thanks srhutch - will try that first in a bit, then newer software, then if no joy I'll post on the thread linked above.
Thanks Guys.
Will let you know how it goes.

Those symptoms are typical of wrong vehicle type selected in Intravee settings. Check which variation of the E46 base you have it set to and try one or more of the others and see if it helps.

Hi
Srhutch and GreyZed - thanks.
Disconnecting the battery for 30 mins seems to have brought my satnav memory back.
And the intravee wasn't set to z4 - so looks like that has sorted it auto zooming when I don't want it to!

But...... Now for some reason the nav only seems to be able to find a lock on one satellite so although my issues are fixed - satnav has now become useless as it doesn't know where I am!

I am hoping just maybe needs some time to get itself sorted out after the battery discoonect. Having a cuppa in the hope when I go back out again in half hour it may have fixed itself (wishful thinking maybe).
Hopefully I'll go back and all will be right with the world, if not, looks like I'll be back asking for more help

Oh, incidentally, the three blink indicators work as they should now - so that's something! - thanks GreyZed.

Good News:
All intravee functions work as they should - sat nav auto zoom is now turned off, three blink indicators work as they should.
Sat nav has found satellites and updated its almanac and knows where I am.

Bad News:
Sat Nav still has amnesia. Problems are:
No new addresses are being added to the recent address list.
Sat nav doesn't remember the route if you turn off ignition mid-way (e.g. to fill up with petrol etc - I have to input the address again when I get back in. It used to either remember, or ask me if I wanted to continue guidance).
Sat Nav also doesn't remember that I like perspective view and what scale I left it on - it reverts to 900yd scale and pointing north view on restart so I have to amend that again each time.

All else seems to work fine - it's just these bits which seem to relate to its memory, and it was all fine before intravee went in.

Have tried disconnecting battery three times now. Initially seemed hopeful as after the first time I entered a new destination, then cancelled it and it was added to the recent address list, but then when I went back to it that new one was no longer in the recents list and it was back as it was. Subsequent disconnections of battery for various periods of time (ranging up to 40 mins) have had no affect.

I know these are not serious issues and I can get round them, it's just infuriating knowing it used to remember these things and now it doesn't.

Any other ideas anyone? If not I'll see if my Indy can reset it or something.
Rich.

Does it have a limit on number of previous destinations, an when full won't allow any more to be added hence doesn't remember the one just entered, this is only a guess

I think there is a limit but once full just knocks the oldest one off the bottom of the list.
There is option to delete addresses from the address book, but not to delete or clear the recent addresses list as far as I can find.

I have an intravee and my nav has never done this. Do you have the most recent firmware on the nav ? IIRC it's v32... Have a search, you can find out how to check the version - can't remember how right now I'm afraid.

I'll check but pretty sure it is.
The newest firmware allows 5 digit postcodes and perspective view doesn't it?
If so, I have those so pretty sure it's most recent firmware.

Still stuck with this problem.
All functions on the Intravee are now working as they should.

But Satnav still forgetful with recent destinations and keeps defaulting to pointing north view every time I stop and restart the engine.

Any more ideas?
Is there any way to reset it (other than disconnecting the battery for half hour, which I tried to no avail).

Should I maybe try re-updating the firmware?? I'm sure I've seen a post somewhere on how to do that?

I've never had such a small thing wind me up so much - grrrrr.

Ok.
Car went in to my Indy to sort a couple of bits so asked if he could look at the Satnav memory problem. He suggested all he could try would be to reload the firmware, and if that didn't fix it, he suggested maybe the memory in the unit is goosed (in which case need a new Satnav computer for £1800!!!!).

Nothing to loose so I said yep - try a firmware update.

And result is......even worse.
Now it has no memory whatsoever! It returns to factory default settings every time I turn off the ignition.

Meaning, everything is in German, defaults to the blue colour scheme (I liked the other colour), and it even removes perspective view every time (so have to do the 10 second press to get secret menu up to turn perspective back on EVERY TIME!

It has gone from something I could have probably just accepted and lived with, to massively annoying and unbearable amount of faff.

Cannot keep it as it is, I'll end up loosing my rag and punching the screen or something (and then regretting that even more) nor can I afford £1800 for a new unit.

So I've taken a punt on a second hand unit from a breakers (it said fully functioning - hope it's not a fib) for £180. I thought they went for a fair bit more than that even second hand, so I've either pulled a blinder or pissed another £180 down the drain on an expensive paperweight.

Will try and get Indy to switch them over in next couple of weeks and cross fingers that problem will be fixed.

how olds the car battery?

try inputting something into it and turning ignition off then on after sey 10 secs, but dont start the engine n see if it remembers
