Intravee & iPhone - Nothing But Static

Finally got round to installing my Intravee + KCA-420i. Installation pretty straight forward (thanks PVR for your instructions - although the images appear to be missing). No CD changer to remove, and the cables were just sitting there behind the carpet.

Took a while to get the iPhone to sycn with the kit, it was recognised but no content was available, found a thread somewhere that it should be unlocked to made sure of that an now it seems to be controlled fine from the head uniut.

Just one problem though - no sound, just a bit of static when you turn the volume up - the track time is incrementing so It's playing. Anyone seen this problem, I've tried the intravee forum but you have to be admin authorised to post, and I'm awaiting authorisation!

Thanks guys

Tom

umm no problem with my 3gs and my intravee.. but yo udo need to make sure your play lists are below 250.. otherwise it does hang.

Also depends what version of the firmware you have.

It's the latest firmware, and there are only a couple of albums on there. All the information suggests it's playing, just no actual music.

Hmm, you definitely plugged the CD Changer audio cable in too? :)

Well, had to ask.. maybe it fell out when you refitted the carpet or something? :\

Sifts - yea checked a few times. Not put the car back together yet, wanted to make sure it worked first. Was thinking about getting hold of a iPod classic to test but I don't think that's the problem.

And when you say "static", is it static as in the usual analogue sounding white noise or is it static as in a sort of digital noise?

I vaguely recall that depending on the year of the car three's an analogue and a digital version of the DSP. I think they have different connectors though, so it doesn't seem likely it's that.

I'm presuming your CD changer worked previously and you've not done anything at the front of the car which could have dislodged the connectors on the back of the head-unit itself?

(Probably worth using a serial cable and doing a firmware update on the Intravee too whilst you've got it accessible)

I've not tried mine with the iPhone tbh, but I'd be surprised if it's that, especially as you've got the playlists and track names appearing on the dash already - it sounds more like it's something in the audio path is incorrect. ie: maybe the cables audio pins are damaged or something like that. I'm guessing the KCA-420i was second hand? Is the cable in decent nick?

It's not got a dsp - had that on the last z4. There was no cd changer before, the wires are there ready though.

The kca-420i is brand new.

Just took it all apart and reassembled, now it's showing as no magazine... Joy, and the iPhone is not even saying accessory connected when you plug it in... Arggg.

Have you made sure the intravee is set to the correct UI should be 6 if you have nav, failing that sounds like a wiring issue. Have a look behind the radio made sure every things connected up correctly, possibly someone might have installed a different ipod interface which was connected up behind the radio
