intravee installation

Hi,

I was wondering what the best way is to install an intravee and Alpine KCA 420i.

I have got the DSP audio pack with upgraded speaker system in the car (Z4M Radster) and Sat Nav but not a CD changer. Do I need to buy the DSP adaptor or not and does anyone know where the cables for the CD changer terminate ie the boot or centre console? I would quite like to put the intravee etc in the centre console with the Sat Nav but am not sure where the DSP adaptor would need to go. I know some people who have got a CD changer in the boot put ther intravee etc in there but don't know how easy this is if there is no CD changer.

I just need some advice about what I need to buy and where the best place is to put it. I am capable of doing the install myself as long as it doesn't involve taking half the car apart!

Any suggestions and advice welcome.

I have DSP on mine and didn't need any adaptor. The cable for the CD changer is taped up behind the bottom cubby hole in the centre console and it is just a case of plugging that and the Alpine unit into the Intravee and then the iPod cable from the Alpine unit to your iPod/iPhone. Unfortunately to remove the cubby hole you need to dismantle half the centre console as it is too wide to pull out. Also be warned that the CD changer cable is pretty damn short on most cars and can be quite fiddly. Some people go in through the boot to get round this but that can require some blind feeling and luck of the Irish.

Yes, done a few of these now. On the M's I have done, the cables have all been rather short. I have placed the Intravees themselves always under the satnav DVD unit, none of the cars I have done had a CD changer so all had the cables taped down.

Some parts need to be removed to be able to get the box out. I assume you have seen my Intravee fitting thread?

I know you addressed this to PVR, but... If you are asking about the D/A convertor on the ToysInYourCar site, no you don't need one the Z4 went back to regular Analogue CD changer and the only digital is between the Amp and the HU, the CD input is Analogue which works with the Intravee fine

Cheers for that PVR......guess I might have to get the DICE A-D converter as well. Will have to have a look to see if I need it though. Will have a read up on this.
I'm just back from picking up my first bit kit for the upgrade. An 80gb Ipod Classic in really nice condition for £60 off Gumtree. I was bidding for some on Ebay yesterday but tatty ones were going for silly money so I'm well chuffed.
