Intravee alternative for android

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if there is an alternative to the intravee ii and alpine kca420 for use with an android phone? I love my android and don't want to change to iPhone just for one extra function. I could buy an old iPod just for tunes and keep it in the car but I would rather have one device does all, and I really don't want the iPhone and would much prefer to stay with android.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Get yourself an old iPod. Believe me it's more of a pain unplugging it everytime you get in and out of the car.

I have 30GB 5TH gen one you can have for £25 plus postage. The controls don't work but it will work with an Intravee fine and sync with iTunes. I used it in my one series but now use a USB stick.

+1 on this. Fill it with music and playlists and forget about it. No faffing around plugging a phone in and out all the time.
You've bought the expensive bits in the Intravee and the Alpine KCA-420i . Now get a cheap Ipod and enjoy. :D

if he gets an old ipad will he not have to install crappy iTunes on his laptop/pc to put music on it

+2 I bought a new intravee, 2nd hand KCA-420i and 2nd hand 30Gb ipod. The ipod stays in the car all the time and sits in the centre cubby-hole door held by the velcro strap. I'm an android user for phone and tablet but the extra functions of the intravee make it for me.

A Dice (with Bluetooth streaming support) would work for you.

If your phone presents as a USB device you'll be able to play music straight off it as if it was a USB key as well :)

Ok, thanks for the replies guys.

I think the way to go is to get an old iPod and leave it in the car. I haven yet bought the intravee or the kca420i but may be looking to do so soon. It just annoys to think that android haven't recognised this possible market and worked with the likes of Alpine and Intravee and others to enable their devices to have the same functionality. Maybe this will come in the near future. I was only interested as I'm due a mobile upgrade and was considering iPhone but I've made my mind now and am going to stick with android. I've never had an iPhone and probably never will, although I'm never off my iPad.

Anyway, cheers again guys.

Just a thought, the intravee really comes into it's own if you have the sat nav display. Do you have one?

Unfortunately not. Been quoted £600 for it and I cant justify it really.

In that case perhaps another member can help on the usability of an intravee without sat nav?

I have a spare KCA unit as well. I am going to perform the single wire mod on it to ensure the iPod wakes up on it's own. If all goes well I will sell the spare.

Question on the side about the Intravee. If you have the Sat Nav screen down and you change track, does it ping the screen up? That really really annoys me and why I'm thinking of going for the AUX In mod.

Just checked mine and your right it does. I've never noticed before as I have my screen up normally when listening. Maybe RichardP can tell you whether it can be turned off or can be added in the next firmware upgrade.

Think this has been asked about before. I'm sure the answer was it couldn't be done.
