Intravee & Alpine unit (not mine) - and some other random

Ordered an 0806 :D

No worries if we don't get time :poke: What's the difference between buying lunch vs dinner when everything is finished

soldering iron, two bits of wire and a flat round connector will get that 12v cig lighter modified and installed in the space by the mirror.

Is that easier than using the hardwire kit then?

You don't happen to have a soldering iron, 2 bits of wire & a connector do you? :P

I might have a connector in a box of bits that came with a tool kit I was once given....I feel so manly with my DIY abilities sometimes!

THe only thing I am missing I think is the connector, the RC type like here, although FC would do it.

I've got loads of 'em - don't think I could get one to you before Saturday though

PVR might have some or, if he's going into Crawley, there's a Maplin there

Just checked, there's also a Maplin on the outskirts of TW - luckily it's on the Hailsham side so you may be able to get in on Saturday morning

Looks similar to me, no idea on quality etc. Had them unused for years.

If not correct, I can get to a Maplin tomorrow

Matt

That'll do ya

The colours denote the different swg that they'll fit - usually the hole diameter on the red is smaller than the hole on the blue or yellow versions but yours look to be the same.

Think it's the poor photo as they are different sizes.

Thanks for the confirmation they are ok - part of a toolkit I was given over 10yrs ago & never had a use for :D

Depends how big the hole is, needs about 5mm diameter, other than that perfect

Bugger, nowhere near - outside diameter is 6mm inner in only about 3mm.

Will pop to Maplin for the correct bits before Saturday

Back into the toolkit for another decade they go!

If you were to say that to Mrs PVR, she would die laughing. The nearest I get to Crawley is when I go to Vines. Can't remember the last time I saw a shop ...

just to jump in the colour is for the size/gauge of cable as said
but any colour ring connector can come with any size ring/hole

I think I have all sizes anyway.

Let me know if not, as I'm going within 200 metres of one tomorrow anyway.

Might as well pick them up to save you the hassle of actually going into the garage to have a look!

Those that have a possible need for them can then take them away, as I will only put them in the toolbox, never to see the light of day! 'Potential use' is far better than ''not a snowball's hope in hell of using'

Looking forward to some great Thai food on Saturday :) Wife less impressed as she loves Thai also

:headbang:

So I need a 5mm hole, with which colour of collar?

the colour needs to be what fits the cable best.
if its thin cable use red
a bit thicker use blue
yellow is biggest
bigger the cable the more current (amps) it can cope with
red or blue will cope with a lot of things

How many pages do you reckon we can get this off topic 'heads up' thread to?

I was wondering how many different topics it could cover,
an how far from the first post it could get
