Intravee 2 firmware

I have this small black box in the storage compartment between the seats which I had no idea what it was. Curiosity got the better of me and I pulled it off of its Velcro and it turns out it's an intravee 2. This wasn't installed under my ownership, all I knew was I had an iPod cable, so I don't really know what this little box of magic does for me.

Anyway, my question is, I read online you can upgrade the firmware. Is it worth updating the firmware and what will updating it actually give me? I'm currently running with version 5.31 which I'm pretty sure is vastly out of date!

Thanks

Mike.

Firstly, congrats on your find!
Check out this thread for the update - you will need a cable (not the ipod one) to update, but the intravee is so much more than an ipod player as it connects through iBus to allow you to change lights, indicators, etc.

richardp is the guy which maintain the firmware
if you have a very old firmware, you will have probably to upgrade in several steps

depending on how old it is, you might not need a update, im on latest one and tbh there's no difference to previous

think the features I use is

buttons 1 (dispays car info inc speed and temp) / 2 (track info) on radio to select Ipod screens, 3/4 is my main playlists
on lock / unlock, diff lights to be on (side lights and rears) on lock
on ignition off, unlock doors

All depends how the buttons are programmed by the previous owner though
